What a week for my dogs! Anaheim is sick and I was awaken by Louie having a seizure last night.
I remember the first time he had one, I flipped out like french toast. Of course it was in the middle of the night and Ryan was at work. I called him in a panic, "What is happening over here? His eyes are rolling back in his head and he's convulsing!"
"Tracee, calm down and hold on to him until he stops. It's going to be OK."
And so I did just that. The following day I ran him over to the vet and they monitored him and tested him all day, when I went to pick him up... $400 later. "There's nothing wrong with him."
"Are you FLIPPING kidding me????"
It was about a year later when my mom and dad were out that the answer was given to me by my mother. My mother, who doesn't have a dog and well, doesn't particulary like them.
"Tracee, he gets too hot under those blankets and he over heats."
Duh!
The poor little bugger. He feel off the couch and knocked his noggen. I held him until he stopped and put him down on the carpet. He thinks his legs don't work after having a seizure and plops right on his belly. After about 5 minutes he becomes aware of his surroundings and continues on with his happy life.
Then - I ate dinner and since I ate a red onion I had heart burn or something! Maybe it was acid reflux - son of a biscuit, is this normal??? Note to self: NO MORE RED ONIONS. Poo!
On the quilt front - sewed on Bo's binding and am currently hand stitching it. I think so far Bo's quilt is my favorite; I decided to call it "Wonky"
Cheers!
Aren't seizures awful to watch? Our dog started having them a few months ago. We took her to the vet and they put her on phenobarbital for them. She'd have the occasional one until Christmas night when she had 3 in 24 hours. I was scared to death! She's now on the phenobarbital and potassium bromide. We had her med levels checked (a $200 blood test!) and she's right where she should be, except she had another seizure on Sunday night. Not sure what happens next...
I hope your pup stops having them!

Carolyn, I'm so sorry to hear about your puppy! I guess I was lucky it was nothing serious with Louie, but it is AWFUL to watch! 3 in 24 hours! I'd be scared to death too. I'm hope she's OK, prayers and thoughts out to you and her.
